According to a research produced by a non-profit organisation (NGO) working for child safety, at least 4,213 children were molested in 2023, with 11 children abused every day on average throughout the year in Pakistan.
The paper, titled ‘Cruel Numbers 2023,’ a signature publication of Sahil, was released on Thursday with the backing of the NCHR.
According to the NCHR statement, there were 4,213 child abuse instances reported from all four provinces in 2023, including Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
The overall number of recorded cases includes child sexual assault, kidnapping, missing children, and child marriages.
