After refusing to organize a marriage, two suspects in the village of Haibat Brohi, Pir Goth in the Khairpur region of Sindh are accused of poisoning thirteen people.
Shaista and Amir Bakhsh, the accused, were taken into custody after they admitted to putting poison in flour as a result of a marriage proposal being declined. With the assurance that anyone else implicated will also be arrested, the police have stated that their investigation is still underway.
The local government had constituted a medical board to investigate the cause. The patients had been poisoned, according to a board report that was made public ten days ago. This spurred the police, lead by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur, Dr. Samiullah Soomro, to begin a thorough investigation.
