The detrimental use of social media to spread sectarianism and anti-state narratives has been brought to light by a recent cyber patrolling report by law enforcement organizations.
The study, which covered the previous 20 days, found 19 patterns that fueled sectarian riots and anti-state propaganda. The majority of the propaganda was about foreign policy and events in Parachinar.
The research claims that six of these trends, which targeted the nation’s foreign policy, were carried out anonymously. Additionally, trends took advantage of the nation’s political divisions and encouraged civil disobedience.
According to the analysis, accounts that spread these tendencies were located abroad. During that time, a startling 13 tendencies were found that were intended to incite sectarian rioting, the most of them were spreading lies about the Parachinar tragedy.
Additionally, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) found 42,848 websites.
