Australian debutant Sam Konstas was shoulder-bumped by Indian star Virat Kohli during Thursday’s opening session of the Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), drawing criticism.
Following the altercation at the end of the 10th over on the first day, the former captain was given one demerit point and fined 20% of his match fee.
In front of a raucous 90,000 spectators, Kohli made physical contact with Konstas during the game. The footage went viral on social media, with many people criticizing the cricket player for his behavior.
After a brief verbal altercation between the two players, Australian opener Usman Khawaja stepped in to diffuse the situation.
