ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been granted a $200 million loan by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to upgrade its power distribution system.
According to a press release from the ADB on Wednesday, the funding will be used to enhance the capacity of distribution firms (Discos) to provide dependable electricity.
The lender’s “Power Distribution Strengthening Project” will concentrate on lowering major energy losses while in transit and improving infrastructure’s resistance to risks associated with disasters and climate change.
In order to provide more effective and sustainable electricity delivery throughout these areas, the project’s first phase will assist three significant distribution companies: Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco), and Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco).
