In Wisley, Surrey, temperatures reached 28.3C (82.9F) on Monday following the issuance of a four-day heat health advisory.
St James’s Park in London saw a high temperature of 27.4C (81.3F), while Aberdeenshire recorded 26.9C (80.4F).
Parts of the UK are expected to experience a heatwave as temperatures may rise even higher later in the week, reaching as high as 31C (87.8F).
It is anticipated that the heatwave will pass quickly, though, as a cold front is approaching from the south.
Dr. Chris England, a news meteorologist, stated: “Today at Wisley, we recorded the hottest temperature of the year thus far, at 28.3C, and it appears on it.
It appears that Thursday will be the last of the largely hot days in this run since a cold front moving south will bring cooler air to most areas. However, the south may see temperatures as high as 31C again because the cooler weather won’t get there until the evening.”
This is in accordance with the joint heat health advisory issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Met Office. The advisory is in effect from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
