The transport secretary has proposed that the £3 bus fare cap be removed after December 2025.
Recently, Sir Keir Starmer announced that the £2 cap, which has been in effect in England since January 1, 2023, will increase to £3 at the beginning of the following year.
According to the government, the £3 cap will remain in effect until December 2025, or another year.
However, Transport Secretary Louise Haugh said in an interview with Trevor Phillips on Sunday morning that the government was thinking about lifting the cap after that in order to look into other funding options.
