Fox News announced the sudden death of Matt Napolitano, a well-known anchor and reporter for Fox News Audio, who passed away in New York City on December 23 after a brief illness.
Since 2015, Napolitano’s career—which he began in 2015—has been closely linked to Fox News, demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to journalism at the young age of 33.
After initially joining Fox News as a writer for Fox News Headlines 24/7 on Sirius XM, Napolitano quickly rose up the ranks and became a well-known sports correspondent for the network.
His triumphant return in November 2022 followed a brief absence in 2022, coinciding with Fox News’ strategic attempts to bolster its audio content operations.
Serving as both an anchor and a reporter, Napolitano’s multifarious work involved producing and writing programs for all Fox News audio platforms.
His talents were also seen on Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto Coast to Coast,” where he provided sports-related reporting for Neil Cavuto’s weekday show.
Napolitano also provided his voice to the Fox News Edge service, which distributed programming bundles and news coverage to Fox affiliate stations around the country.
In her eulogy, Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised Napolitano for his ingenuity and entrepreneurial drive in the media. Fox News staff members received a memo on December 24 in which Scott discussed the range of Napolitano’s contributions—from content development to anchoring—and emphasized his love of the journalism profession, which shaped his whole career.
Outside of the workplace, Napolitano loved “Jeopardy.” A tribute to his diligent pursuit of this objective since adolescence, he debuted as a contestant on the renowned game show in 2020, fulfilling a long-held aspiration.
His passion for game shows continued when he appeared on “Wheel of Fortune” in 2016, making it to the bonus round.
Regretfully, Ricky, Napolitano’s bereaved spouse, whom he wed only in May, is left behind. The Fox News community is grieving the loss of a beloved colleague and well-respected journalist as word of his unexpected departure spreads.
