Four hundred Sikhs from India traveled to Lahore via the Wagah border to attend the 185th anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s death. The pilgrims will attend religious ceremonies and tour the main Gurdwaras throughout Punjab. The Indian Sikhs were greeted warmly at the Wagah border, where Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh and ETPB officials welcomed the pilgrims, who will stay in Pakistan for ten days. The Indian Sikhs praised Pakistan’s hospitality, describing it as “outstanding” and noting that the Indian government obstructed Pakistanis’ access to places of worship. The main event of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s 185th birth anniversary will take place on June 29 at Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Muhammad Ali Raza Sama Lahore.
