Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday issued a harsh order against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials involved in aiding human traffickers in the wake of the Greek boat catastrophe, which is thought to have killed at least 40 Pakistani nationals.
These directions were given by the PM during a meeting on Islamabad’s efforts to curb human trafficking.
He also instructed the relevant authorities to finish the current investigation into the human trafficking problem as soon as possible and provide specific recommendations, stating that such occurrences bring Pakistan a terrible reputation worldwide.
PM Shehbaz pointed out that after the boat capsizing incident in 2023, there was a significant delay in pursuing action against the responsible party.
