In Southern California, people have put their personal safety in danger to save animals, large and small, from wildfires that have destroyed thousands of buildings, killed 27, and displaced countless others.
According to Cal Fire, the Palisades and Eaton fires have burned an area larger than Paris, making them two of the most devastating wildfires in Southern California history.
Some had to leave their cherished dogs and animals behind because they weren’t all close to their homes when the evacuation was issued. Since the fires started on January 7, the Pasadena Humane Society has taken in at least 610 animals and helped to feed pets that were left stranded inside homes, according to the charity.
“Every report of animals left is being recorded.”
