The renowned R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and politician Jerry Butler died at the age of 85.
Butler’s secretary, Marty, who describes herself as his “niece at heart,” told news that he passed away on Thursday night, February 20, 2025, at his Chicago home from natural causes.
She continued by disclosing that the For Your Precious Love singer had been afflicted with Parkinson’s disease after his death.
“A wonderful man has moved up to heaven. “Our loss on this planet,” Marty said.
For those who don’t know, Butler was the lead vocalist for Curtis Mayfield’s R&B group, The Impressions.
In 1991, he was admitted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the group.
