ISLAMABAD: According to The News, which cited the Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) on Sunday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) won a notably greater number of assembly seats in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) than their respective percentages of votes.
The First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, which chooses a winner based on who obtains the most votes among the candidates, also helped the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) win more seats than its vote share in Punjab.
However, despite receiving a larger percentage of votes in KP, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan—Fazl (JUI-F) was unable to obtain a corresponding number of seats. With 1,269,230 votes (15%), JUI-F came in second place in KP but was still able to secure assembly members (6%), according to a report by Fafen.
