LAHORE: A legal reforms committee has been established to supervise the Punjab government’s decision to modify the province’s criminal laws, an official announced Tuesday.
A provincial home department spokeswoman stated that the group, which would be headed by Punjab Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Kamran Adil, will make recommendations to modernize and improve the efficacy of the legislation within three months.
The Qanun-e-Shahadat Order of 1984, the Pakistan Penal Code 1860 (PPC), and the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 (CrPC) will all be amended by the committee. The body will also write a law pertaining to national security.
