After the unexpected passing of his longtime friend and fellow Oscar winner, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman recently thought back on his legacy.
After the two-time Oscar winner passed away aged 95, the 87-year-old actor, who costarred with Hackman in Runaway Jury (2003), paid tribute to him in a statement, according to Deadline.
Hoffman recalled his late friend as “a giant among actors” and called him a “genius,” drawing comparisons to Marlon Brando.
“When I was 19 and Gene was 27, we met at the Pasadena Playhouse for acting school,” the Tootsie actor revealed. In an attempt to emulate our hero, Marlon Brando, we used to play congas together on the roof.
Gene was similar to Brando in that he added a unique element to our trade.
