ISLAMABAD: According to The News on Sunday, Syed Shibli Faraz, the Senate’s leader of the opposition and a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has formally urged Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to step in and see to it that the withheld vote count on the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill, 2024, is announced.
Shibli outlined the events of the recently adjourned session in a letter to the Senate chairman, stressing the need of maintaining openness and parliamentary processes.
He claimed that it was against the House’s rules of procedure and business conduct to conceal the vote count results.
He pointed out that on February 17, Senator Mohsin Aziz introduced a private members bill called “The State Bank (SBP) of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2024.”
