ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is aggressively looking for an opposition coalition to overthrow the current political order, but a significant obstacle still stands in the form of its previous disparaging remarks about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
An informed JUI-F source claims that PTI leaders have expressed the JUI-F’s concerns, especially in light of previous statements made by PTI leaders against Maulana, to the party in an attempt to establish a political alliance.
According to the source, JUI-F expects PTI to take some tangible action to allay the worries of its supporters, who are still extremely aggrieved by PTI’s previous verbal abuse of the Maulana, even though it does not call for a public apology.
PTI has not yet addressed JUI-F’s issues, despite continuous conversations.
