A federal minister has been accused of “criminal negligence” in a Rs60 billion corruption scam that was uncovered by Senate Committee on Maritime Chairman Senator Faisal Vawda.
Using documentary proof, Vawda disclosed the specifics of the land swindle during an appearance on the news’ “Capital” program. Additionally, he blamed the carelessness on Qaisar Sheikh, the Minister of Maritime Affairs.
He said that the Rs 60 billion land purchase was canceled in less than 72 hours. “I asked for one thing, but they did not respond to me and went ahead to scrap the deal in 72 hours,” he stated.
According to the senator, they also ran a denial in a few unidentified periodicals during this time. Millions of rupees’ worth of land was sold for between Rs800,000 and Rs1 million per acre.
