According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday, security forces killed all 16 militants who tried to break into Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on March 4 after successfully thwarting a despicable terrorist attack.
“In this intense exchange of fire, five brave soldiers, after putting up a heroic resistance, embraced martyrdom in the line of duty,” the media arm of the military stated.
However, according to the military’s media wing, five soldiers were also martyred during the gunfight while demonstrating valiant resistance.
The destruction inflicted by suicide bombs throughout the conflict also resulted in the martyrdom of up to thirteen civilians and the injuries of thirty-two more.
