Universal Music sought to halt discovery and postpone a pre-trial hearing in Drake’s defamation case against Kendrick Lamar’s diss hit, “Not Like Us,” but New York federal judge Jeannette Vargas denied their motion.
In addition to trying to slow down the multi-layered legal battle, the God’s Plan rapper is currently involved in a struggle against UMG, Lamar’s representation.
In November 2024, Drake’s legal battle with the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper escalated as his attorneys filed lawsuits in Texas and New York City to compel Universal to provide papers detailing the promotion and streaming of Kendrick Lamar’s diss hit.
