As the Japanese striker declared her retirement from football, Yuki Nagasato, the champion of the Women’s World Cup, who created history by briefly playing for a men’s side, said she had given it her all.
The 37-year-old concluded a 23-year career that included playing in Germany, England, the United States, Australia, and her own nation. She was a member of the Japan side that won the World Cup in 2011.
Among these was a loan period in 2020 with her brother’s amateur men’s squad, Hayabusa Eleven, who competed in a Japanese regional league.
