The US president became the first elected political figure in modern history to be invited by Charles for two state visits when Trump agreed to the monarch’s invitation to visit Britain.
The US president read the letter right away, making sure it had the King’s signature in it before calling it “beautiful” and displaying it to the cameras.
A Telegraph report stated, “The King writing to President Trump inviting him to Britain was not because His Majesty wanted it, but because his Prime Minister thought an invitation was in the national interest.”
The piece stated “Once Starmer had told the King his ministers’ wishes, His Majesty had to comply.”
