Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promote gender equality and women’s rights on International Women’s Day.
While PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, President Zardari emphasized compliance with international commitments and constitutional provisions.
“Today, Pakistan joins the world in celebrating International Women’s Day to highlight women’s resilience and their contributions to shaping societies and driving progress,” the president stated in his address.
This year’s theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”, reinforced the need for collective action to ensure that every woman and girl had equal access to rights and opportunities, he added.
He said that women constitute almost half of our population and empowering them is essential for national progress.
