Despite earlier rumors that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer project was put on hold, Dolly Parton claims that development is still on.
“They’re still working on that,” the country music artist said to Business Insider. The spooky drama was produced by Sandollar Entertainment.
Regarding the original series, which was put on hold in 2022, the 78-year-old revealed, “They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.”
She went on, “Like A lot of my work was done just conversing back and forth with the business people there.”
“I need to give more credit to other people than myself for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Many people worked quite hard on that, the Jolene singer continued. “That little show did great.”
Dolly, though, stayed mum regarding the other people working on the project.
There had already been attempts to bring the popular show back. The first was in 2009 when director Fran Rubel Kuzui, who had helmed Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1992, tried to adapt the supernatural drama into a motion picture. However, the project was met with criticism since Joss Whedon, the original creator, was not involved.
In 2018, almost ten years thereafter, Monica Owusu-Breen, the showrunner, and Marvel director collaborated on a projected Buffy revival.
