QUETTA: After an undetermined number of terrorists kidnapped passengers from the Jaffar Express, security forces began a clearance operation in the Bolan region of Balochistan. According to security sources, the operation successfully killed at least 13 attackers and freed 80 civilians.
According to security officials, the train was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with more than 400 passengers in nine bogies when it was attacked.
Eleven children, twenty-six women, and fifty-three adults have been rescued. According to security officials, authorities are tightening the perimeter around the terrorists and continuing the operation to free the remaining hostages.
According to security sources, the terrorists dispersed into smaller groups after the security forces’ operation, and the injured passengers were relocated.
