The Pakistan Army declared on Wednesday that the Jaffar Express hostage-rescue operation was a success, that security personnel had killed all of the attackers on the scene, and that the captives had been released.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, confirmed the successful completion of the intricate operation in an interview with a private news channel. He explained that units from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Special Services Group (SSG), army, and Frontier Corps (FC) participated.
According to authorities, dozens of militants connected to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attacked the Jaffar Express on Tuesday, carrying over 400 passengers, and detonated a railroad track.
