Erik Prince, the creator of the contentious private defense firm formerly known as Blackwater, has announced a “strategic alliance” with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to combat organized crime.
Last year, Noboa, who led a contentious military campaign against criminal organizations, shared a picture of himself and Prince at an office with an Ecuadorian flag in the background on X and Instagram.
“To improve our capabilities in combating narcoterrorism and safeguarding our waters from illicit fishing, we have formed a strategic partnership,” Noboa wrote on Tuesday. “A truce does not exist. There’s no way out. We’re making progress,” he continued.
The partnership’s specifics were not disclosed by the president.
