Residents claim that a “gigantic mega-shed” that was constructed next to their homes has obscured their view and made them feel as though they are in a prison camp. How do they live their lives, and what are their options?
The warehouse in Nacton, which is close to Ipswich, started construction last year.
It is over 147 meters (482 feet) wide, more than 300 meters (984 feet) long, and, at 21 meters (69 feet) height, it dominates the surrounding gardens. It is roughly the area of six full-size football fields.
Final designs for the building at Equation Properties’ Orwell Logistics Park were accepted by East Suffolk Council around the end of 2021.
Neighbors contend that the decision was “fundamentally wrong,” while the authorities maintain that it was made correctly.
It has been called a “monstrosity” and some claim it has made them cry.
