As trade tensions between the two biggest economies in the world rise due to Trump’s tariffs, President Donald Trump announced Monday that Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping would visit the US shortly, according to AFP.
When Trump visited the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, he told reporters, “He’ll be coming in the not-too-distant future,” in reference to the Chinese leader.
Trump provided no additional information.
Last week, the Wall Street Journal revealed that Washington and Beijing had started talking about holding a potential summit in the United States in June. June marks the birthdays of both leaders.
