The Prince of Wales responded to the heartbreaking news with an impassioned message from Prince William.
The heartfelt statement was posted on the future king’s social media accounts.
In order to personally honor the final pilot from the Battle of Britain, Prince William issued the statement.
The UK’s Royal Air Force announced that the last British pilot to survive the Battle of Britain during World War II had passed away at the age of 105, according to AFP.
In a statement, the RAF claimed that John “Paddy” Hemingway “passed away peacefully” on Monday, calling his passing “the end of an era”.
He was one of the pilots who were referred to as “The Few” because of his involvement in the crucial air combat that protected Britain in 1940.
