According to AJ McLean, a founding member of the Backstreet Boys, his eldest daughter “hates” one of the group’s iconic songs.
The 47-year-old celebrated singer revealed to PEOPLE during the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 17 that his 12-year-old daughter Eliott “hates” the band’s 1999 song I Want It That Way “with a passion.”
“My oldest daughter despises that song, despises it with a fervor,” McLean joked. because she is made fun of when she shows up at school.
“She says, ‘Stop doing that,’ when I drop her off and the boys [sing the lyrics], ‘Tell me why.'” The Larger than Life crooner clarified, “And then I start doing it to embarrass her because that’s what dads do.”
