ISLAMABAD: Following the removal of a case pertaining to the jail superintendent’s refusal to set up a meeting between the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his attorney, Mashal Yousafzai, from the cause list, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has started suo motu contempt proceedings.
The case’s original judge, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, objected to the removal and asked the judicial deputy registrar to provide a written response. He also asked the Advocate General of Islamabad for a response on the decision to delist the case and transfer it to a different bench.
The court’s action follows the delisting of the case after a larger bench was formed in accordance with directives from IHC Acting Chief Justice Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
