KARACHI: According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, the UK Air Safety Committee will hold a critical meeting on March 20 to evaluate the five-year ban on Pakistan’s main airline and other carriers.
The committee will consider whether to waive limitations after evaluating the cases of all Pakistani carriers, including Pakistan International carriers (PIA).
After the bogus pilot license scandal, the UK and European aviation authorities enforced the ban in July 2020. But after tomorrow’s assessment, Pakistani officials are still optimistic that the limitations will be removed.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the then-aviation minister in the 2020 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, asserted that pilots were flying aircraft with fictitious licenses.
