After nearly two years of conflict, the Sudanese army claims to have retaken the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum, from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The army has been making great strides against the RSF in recent months, and regaining the capital of the east African nation is a huge win.
Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the army and de facto ruler of Sudan, declared on Friday that “no talks will take place until these people are gone.”
However, as the RSF still controls a sizable portion of the nation, his men are still far from bringing the battle to a complete conclusion.
Additionally, an RSF statement claimed that its fighters were still in the area, raising doubts about whether the struggle for Khartoum is concluded.
