Jeremiah Azu of Britain claims that “the sky isn’t the limit” after winning the first global title of his career with a 60-meter gold sprint at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
Azu became a world champion by matching that personal best time of 6.49 seconds, just 13 days after he had won his first solo international gold at the European Indoors.
After a thrilling picture finish, he crossed the finish line a tenth of a second ahead of Australian Lachlan Kennedy, who was first displayed as the winner on the big screen.
As his name appeared in second place, Azu had his hands on his head, but when his victory was verified a few seconds later, the 23-year-old was already running away in ecstatic celebration.
