In a case concerning the crushing and death of two siblings on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road, a municipal court on Monday placed a dumper truck driver under two days of police custody.
Early on Sunday morning, a speeding dumper truck plowed over the two brothers, killing them and injuring their father. This incident sparked demonstrations and mob violence around the port city. Ahmed Raza, 14, and Mahnoor, 22, were confirmed as the deceased.
Locals attacked the dumper truck driver after the incident, and the police then took him into custody. In the meantime, at least seven dumper trucks were set on fire around the nation by an enraged mob.
