As the compilation of 2024 election results continues for more than 48 hours and each party’s position changes by the minute, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari emphasized on Saturday that no government could be formed in the Centre, Punjab, or Balochistan without the inclusion of his party.
“To achieve political stability, a government should be constituted with national unity.
Following the recent polls, the politician stated that the PPP is the only party with representation in all four provinces.
“Complete results have not yet been provided. […] However, without the PPP, no government can be formed in the Centre, Punjab, or Balochistan.
He congratulated the nationals for voting in great numbers. The former foreign minister also complimented PPP supporters and voters for their faith in the party’s leadership and candidates on election day.
“I cannot indulge in the old style of politics […] We want to bring political stability in our country.”
The PPP president stated that the party’s central executive committee (CEC) will make the decision on the future administration following the announcement of the official election results.
“It is in the country’s interest to build political unity as it would be difficult to resolve public issues without addressing the core national issue of political instability.”
Bilawal, whose party was a key ally of the former coalition government led by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) after the parliamentary vote in 2022 that ousted ex-prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, admitted that his party could not form the next government alone without a simple majority.
“I am not in a position to make an announcement. “The nation is also looking forward to the decision of the independent candidates,” stated the politician, as independent candidates backed by the former ruling party have dominated the election results thus far.
