A man was murdered after a plane crashed on a beach in southern Mexico on Sunday while trying an emergency landing, CBS News reported, citing police.
The plane, which was carrying four skydivers, remained mostly intact when it crashed in a crowded area near Puerto Escondido, nearly on top of the fatality, whose nationality was not revealed.
Four Canadians and one Mexican male were evacuated from the small plane and sent to a hospital for treatment.
The injured, ages 60, 59, 41, and 35, were reported to be in “stable” condition by the Oaxaca state civil defense office.
The identities and hometowns of the Canadians remain unknown.
According to the office, the deceased’s wife was close but uninjured.
According to Puerto Global, the man was snapping pictures with his wife when the plane crashed, with the side marked “Skydive Puerto Escondido” on the aircraft, which advertises dives from 13,000 feet above sea level on their website.
Puerto Global also shared a video of the crash’s aftermath, which shows beachgoers taking at least one person from air craft over the sand.
