Grant Shapps believes that after news revealed that UK exports were “helping Russia’s war,” the government should take a “very close look.”

A "very close look" will be conducted by the government, according to the defence secretary, following News' discovery that UK exports are almost probably aiding Russia's war effort in Ukraine.

In honor of the two years since Russia’s invasion, the foreign secretary made the comments together with the addition of 50 additional people and companies to the UK sanctions list.

Items being supplied to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia are understood to be forwarded to Russia, along with heavy machinery and drone equipment.

On Thursday, Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said in the House of Commons, “I did read Ed Conway’s great thread dealing about this topic at length.

“It is true that sanctions have a tendency to work when first put in place, but eventually they will find a way around them and reach a different market.

“As Ed Conway points out in the thread this is an international problem… I can assure him that the British government will be taking a very close look.”
