In April 2022, Caroline March suffered a severe fall at a cross-country riding event in Norfolk that resulted in the dislocation and fracturing of two vertebrae, rendering her unconscious.
The professional rider shared the following on Instagram a few days later: “I can now feel and use my abs, but I still have no feeling in my legs. I’ve also been getting random twitches to my legs, which I’ve been told is really encouraging.”
A few weeks after her treatment began, she posted a picture of herself in a wheelchair shooting a basketball hoop.
She then posted on social media four months later, saying, “I’m not going to lie, I’m struggling, like really struggling.” I’m not this person; I’m broken. It’s been completely taken away from me, even though I ride horses for comfort, work out to decompress, and go walks with my dogs.
“This, in my opinion, is not a cry for assistance. All I’m doing is laying down my cards. It takes a lot of energy to be strong, put on a brave face, and declare that you are okay when you are not. I’m completely devastated on the inside—mentally, emotionally, and physically.”
