On the evening of February 13, 1981, some eight hundred young people had entered the Stardust, a nightclub located in the Artane area of north Dublin, which was housed in a converted factory.
On Valentine’s Eve, there was going to be dancing and drinking. Even a dancing competition was held.
Among the revelers was Marie Kennedy, a seventeen-year-old from nearby Kilbarrack. “Her biggest passion was disco dancing,” her sister Michelle said.
She adored Abba, Leo Sayer, The Jackson 5, and the Bee Gees. She was at the Stardust that evening to see the dancing competition because she loved music and dancing.
