Halifax’s home price index showed that average house prices increased by 0.1% in April, following a 0.9% decline in March. However, on an annual basis, prices increased by 1.1%, up from 0.4% growth in the previous month.
According to the report, the average cost of a UK property in April was £288,949, barely increasing from £288,781 in March.
According to Amanda Bryden, Halifax’s head of mortgages, “the average house price has largely plateaued in the early part of 2024.”
“This reflects a housing market finding its feet in an era of higher interest rates.”
