Unsettling evidence of Russian infiltration into Ukraine’s security establishment is the arrest of two active colonels from the government’s own protection force.
The news reported that the people belonged to a “network of agents” that had worked for the Russian security services.
The commander of Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, and news chief Vasyl Malyuk were among the other targeted targets of the plot.
The plotters declared in a statement that they intended to kill the head of military espionage before this year’s Orthodox Easter, which fell on May 5.
