The head of the Labour Party declared in Dover that the government’s main immigration strategy, which is to send asylum applicants to Rwanda, is unworkable.
When News political editor Beth Rigby questioned him about whether he would stop deportation flights to Rwanda on the first day of a Labour government, he said, “We will scrap the Rwanda scheme.”

“I told you that the last time we met, which was last week, and you are aware that it entails calling off the plan.

“Yes, without a doubt. include flights.”

He went on, “We’re going to discontinue the program, which naturally implies we won’t run the scheme at all; it’s a gimmick, and I won’t beat around the bush.

“We’re going to get rid of the policy straight away.”

Later, Labour reiterated that while the party would not cancel any flights that were already scheduled, it would not schedule any more.
