With the nullification of the Peshawar High Court’s order and the Supreme Court’s ruling on reserved seats, the ruling alliance suffered a huge setback on Friday when their 27 legislators in the Punjab Assembly were suspended.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan of the provincial legislative assembly suspended the memberships of 27 parliamentarians who had been given reserved seats for women and minorities after reading the ruling of the supreme court.
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), whose number of House seats has been whittled down to 203, was represented by 23 out of 27 parliamentarians.
