The hospitalized hunger-striking water minister of Delhi.

Five days after initiating a hunger strike to draw attention to the city's water crisis, Atishi, the minister of water in Delhi, was brought to the hospital.

An extended heatwave has increased demand for water, resulting in acute shortages in the Indian capital.
Ms. Atishi’s blood sugar levels plummeted to 36 on Tuesday morning, well below the typical range of 70–100 mg/dL. She was then admitted to the hospital.
The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who only goes by one name, has charged that the nearby state of Haryana is limiting the city’s access to water.
However, the Haryana-governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has refuted the accusation and placed the blame for the water issue on the AAP government.

politician Saurabh Bharadwaj stated on X (previously Twitter) that the woman was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit and that she had not eaten anything for the previous five days.
This year’s summer in Delhi is one of the warmest on record, with weeks-long highs above 40C.
The city’s resources are being strained as a result of the increase in demand for water and power.
Due to the nearly depletion of the water source, people are now dependent on tanker deliveries of water.
