Sukkur: Following the suggestion made by seasoned Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah during a meeting here on Monday, Sukkur Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi has established a task group to begin a “million tree project” within the next fifteen days.

The purpose of the conference, which Mr. Shah chaired, was to talk about environmental deterioration in Sukkur city and other areas of the district in light of the effects of climate change on various local industries.

The municipal commissioner of Sukkur as well as top representatives from the departments of agriculture, revenue, forestry, and irrigation were present at the conference.

In order to enhance the environment, Khursheed Shah emphasized the necessity of creating “green belts” throughout the city and starting a major tree-planting effort.

He stated, “Improving the environment is of equal importance, while improving education, health, and other sectors is important.”

Commissioner creates task force and requests that it begin work in 15 days.

He urged meeting attendees and the leaders of all relevant departments to put significant effort into this. Large-scale tree planting, according to him, is essential to mitigating the effects of climate change.

He stated that the plantation should plant between 500,000 and one million trees along the Indus River’s two embankments. In order to complete the project, MNA Shah requested that the Sukkur commissioner work with the irrigation department. He suggested inviting a third party to participate in the endeavor as well.
