Days before the final, 29-year-old Dan Thomas of Swindon, Wiltshire, received a tattoo on his left thigh that included a picture of the Henri Delaunay Cup. Despite the loss, he claims he has no plans to cover it up.
Substitute Mikel Oyarzabal scored in the 86th minute, but England’s drought for a major men’s trophy, which dates back to the time the nation won the World Cup in 1966, continues.
Gareth Southgate’s team lost the European Championship final for the second time in a row.
However, Mr. Thomas is still of the opinion that the Three Lions will triumph in the upcoming competition in 2028, and he may change his tattoo in four years.
“I don’t regret getting the tattoo; we were close,” the data consultant remarked.
In fact, I don’t think it would be difficult to convert the four into an eight in four years. I’m not going to hide it. I still adore it and have no regrets at all.”
Mr. Thomas complimented the squad for making it to the final and called the outcome “bittersweet”.
“Bittersweet after the game, the result wasn’t what we wanted, but a great achievement to reach yet another final,” he stated.
