The US actress posted the video to her Instagram account on Monday. She is most renowned for playing Cher in the 1995 movie Clueless.
She asks her fans what a small orange fruit that resembles a cherry tomato is after biting into it in the video.
People on social media started speculating that the fruit might have been the Jerusalem cherry, or solanum pseudocapsicum.
The Royal Horticultural Society cautions that the fruit is “harmful if eaten” because to its mild toxicity.
In the footage, the 47-year-old is seen standing in the street, with the plant visible on the other side.
“All right, I’ve found something that I can’t figure out what it is, and I need your help,” she states in her video.
