According to federal court documents, a Florida man who allegedly threatened to carry out mass carnage online has been taken into custody and charged with both making an interstate threat and possessing a firearm.
Alexander Lightner, 26, of Venice, Florida, reportedly posted comments online that were “intended to convey the message that he was planning to conduct a racially or ethnically motivated mass casualty event,” according to an affidavit.
He was interviewed by FBI investigators from the bureau’s Tampa Field Office a week later on January 5, and law officials executed a search warrant at Lightner’s residence before he was arrested.
CNN has contacted Lightner’s public defender to inquire about his thoughts on the accusations made by the government.
